There is only so much time in a day...

Name:

I've been a homeschool mom for ten years now, and although I have homeschooled six children at one time in the past, I am now down to three! I am so encouraged every time I talk to someone who homeschools, is thinking about homeschooling, or has just started. This blog is born out of my desire to share what I have learned...so far.

Gracie's 6th Birthday

Gracie's birthday party was great. Kim invited us to have it at her house to take advantage of their pool. We had cold cut sandwiches, pasta salad, watermelon, and cucumbers from our garden.

The kids enjoyed swimming in the pool very much!

She requested just ONE thing for her birthday - a pair of boots. She went to a birthday party recently in which the theme was "Little House on the Prairie". Some of the other girls had prairie boots and she wanted some of her own. She was more than pleased when she pulled these out of the bag from Nana! Gracie is not one to hold back her emotions! ;)

She had a CandyLand cake! (Like the board game.) It was chocolate cake with homemade vanilla frosting, topped with as much candy as we could find! Just the way Gracie likes it! The more candy in her life the better, as far as she is concerned.

We sang our hearts out!

She blew out her candles.

Then the bickering began over who was going to get what piece! Jasmine and BJ played "rock, paper, scissors" to determine whom would get the large ice cream cone.

It was a great birthday party!

The First Tee

Mitchell and Britany are participating in The First Tee program this summer. It's an 8 week program for kids to learn the game of golf. They won't necessarily learn "how" to golf, for that they have the benefit of the live-in certified golf instructor (dad). Alli and Gracie can't wait until they are old enough. Alli especially wants to play so badly. She uses Mitchell's cut down clubs and he teaches her to putt in the living room.

All-Star Tournament

Mitchell's All-Star team played in a tournament last week. It was his first time playing outfield, and he did well. He wasn't the best on the team, but we were so impressed by his good attitude. He really gave his all, no matter where he found himself.

It was so hot out there, and one night they played a double header that wasn't over until 11:15. The last game that day was the best of them all though. Mitchell stole home to even the score in the bottom of the 6th inning (they play 6,) and the team won in an extra inning. It was very exciting! His team finished second over all, and he was excited to receive a trophy.

They only have one practice this week, but starting on July 5th, they will practice daily until the State Championship starts.
